Susan Gevirtz attained national recognition in the 80s as one of
the editors of How(ever), the journal of avant-garde women's poetry.
Shortly aftewards she began publishing: Taken Place, Linen Minus,
and Domino: Point of Entry. Her book on the English modernist novelist
Dorothy Richardson, Narrative's Journey, is new from Peter Lang.
Gevirtz is an assistant professor of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University.
Her new work, Black Box Cutaway, borrows the furious poetic energy
of experimental cinema from Méliès to Marie Menken to the
young underground filmmakers of today.
