Prageeta
Sharma graduated from Brown University where she received an M.F.A.
in poetry and was awarded The Academy of American Poets prize. Her recent work has appeared in Agni, Explosive, Shiny, The Hat, and The Poetry Project Newsletter. She has read at The Poetry Project, School of Visual Arts, New York University and Columbia University. She runs a reading series in Brooklyn and is the drummer for the girl punk/rock-n-roll band The Sleeves. Sharma's poetry is ornate, mannered, and impossibly pretty, undermining through excess its own mournful diction, the way Syd Barrett took Tennyson to psychedelic heights. March 19, 1999 . |
