Eléni
Sikélianòs
Finally after years of negotiation, Eléni Sikélianòs
appears at Small Press Traffic -- a rare sighting of this elusive bird of
flight. She has written to speak while dreaming (Selva Editions,
1993), Poetics of the Exclamation Point (Rodent Press, 1995), The
Book of Tendons (Post-Apollo Press, 1997) and The Lover's Numbers (Seeing
Eye Books, 1999). I like her writing when it's throbbing with threnody,
for she is the Edith Piaf of poetry, sensual, melancholy, and soulful, but
she has other modes too, the ironic, the elegiac, the mock-pastoral, the
journalistic, the polemic. At this event she will display them all, like
so many bright tail feathers.
