Dale Smith returns to San Francisco from Austin, Texas, where he has recently completed a thesis on Philip Whalen's poetry for his MA from New College. Smith's writing is always surprising, ranging from elegaic to formally combustible, but always with a romantic Western undercurrent. "Wanting/ to live furious, the living/ as distinct a thing as things/ themselves." His work is forthcoming in GAS and Jejune and has appeared in Mirage, Exquisite Corpse, and Wired. With Michael Price he edits the magazine Mike and Dale's Younger Poets. "Other than that, I get high, read, and hang out with Hoa."
