At Small Press Traffic Literary Arts Center, we believe that the most innovative, radical, and important writing is often found in the work of authors not represented in mainstream media. This writing needs to be heard, and our mission is to identify such work (ready!), nurture it (aim!), and bring it to new and loyal audiences. Fire!

For over 26 years -- since Nixon was President! -- Small Press Traffic has been putting our money on contemporary writers of all age, ethnic, and socioeconomic and cultural groups, particularly those whose writing pushes the boundaries of how we speak and think about the world.

Small Press Traffic sponsors poetry and fiction readings, symposia, conferences, book parties, author receptions, and poets theater productions; reviews and promotes small press publications; and engages in community outreach for the enrichment of San Francisco Bay Area residents. And not only the Bay Area. To attend our events people come from as far as Sacramento, San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma. In fact we're a popular stop with cognoscenti-type poetry-loving tourists.
